The single best paragraph in Wikipedia

December 18th, 2009 | 1 Comment »

Wikipedia is truly a wonder. And such luck did I have to stumble across the single best paragraph in the entire encyclopedia. Who knew it would be in the entry for ‘Borscht Belt’?

If only they had. If only they had.

  1. This might beat out my favourite Wikipedia paragraph, from the entry on ‘Eel life history.’ I offer it up in comparison.

“In 1777, the Italian Carlo Mondini found the creature’s gonads and proved that eels are fish. In 1876, the young Austrian student Sigmund Freud dissected hundreds of eels in search for the male sex organs. He had to concede failure in his first published research paper, and turned to other issues in frustration.”

    It’s just so… FREUDIAN.
